Solazyme Reports Increased Licensing Payments Impacted Q4 Revenues, Resulting in Limited Growth for 2011
Total revenue for the fourth quarter ended December 31, 2011 was $14.9 million compared with $23.2 million in the fourth quarter of 2010. The fourth quarter of 2010 included a $15 million license payment from Roquette, compared with a $5 million license payment received in the comparable quarter in 2011. Fourth quarter GAAP net loss attributable to Solazyme, Inc. common stockholders was $15.6 million, which compares with net income attributable to common stockholders of $2.9 million in the prior year period.

Kraft Foods Net Revenues Grow by 10% to $54 billion Ahead of Planned Separation
For the full year, net revenues were $54.4 billion, up 10.5 percent. Organic Net Revenues grew 6.6 percent, driven by strong growth across all geographies. Pricing contributed 6.0 percentage points of growth, and volume/mix contributed 0.6 percentage points. Net revenues for the fourth quarter were $14.7 billion, up 6.6 percent. Organic Net Revenues grew 6.1 percent.

Commission Authorizes Creation of a Joint Venture Between Senoble and Agrial in the Dairy Sector
The joint venture will operate in the production and sale of private label fresh dairy products in France, Germany and Benelux. The Commission concluded that the proposed transaction would not raise competition concerns, in particular because the new entity will have numerous competitors in the markets concerned.

CDC Say Majority of Dairy-related Disease Outbreaks Linked to Raw Milk
The study, published Feb. 21 in the CDC journal Emerging Infectious Diseases, reviewed dairy product outbreaks from 1993 to 2006 in all 50 states. The authors compared the amount of milk produced in the United States during the study period (about 2.7 trillion pounds) to the amount that CDC estimates was likely consumed raw (1 percent or 27 billion pounds) to determine the 150 times higher rate for outbreaks caused by raw milk products. Raw milk products include cheese and yogurt.
